Incoming Patients
What is involved in the Admissions Process?
At Retreat Healthcare, we recognize that being admitted to any of our programs, and particularly to the hospital, can be a trying time. We treat all people with dignity and respect, striving to make the experience a positive and helpful one. Please contact the Access and Evaluation Department to schedule an appointment prior to arriving at Retreat Healthcare. This helps assure that the admissions process goes smoothly.
Upon arrival, most people will meet with a Registered Nurse and will be asked questions about their medical history, medication history, level of daily activity, coping skills, family dynamics, substance abuse history, memory and cognitive functioning, nutrition status, social network and community support and plans after discharge. The admissions process can take 2 – 3 hours, during which time an initial treatment plan will be developed with each person.
