Meadows Educational Center
Located on Retreat Healthcare’s grounds, the Meadows Educational Center is an independent, Vermont-accredited school offering an elementary, middle, and high school curriculum.. All students enrolled in either the Partial Hospital Program or the Tower Program attend the Meadows School. A typical student-teacher ratio at Meadows is one teacher and one aide for every eight students. This allows for highly individualized educational support for each student. Core courses include math, science, history and English as well as electives in art, physical education and health. The curriculum meets the educational, clinical and behavioral needs of the students and the requirements of Vermont’s educational standards. All credits are transferable to the student’s home school.
The Meadows School works closely with the student’s local school and family to provide an integrated educational experience, including IEP services, to prepare the student to return to his/her local school. Representatives from the student’s home schools, along with parents or guardians can visit the Meadows school as needed.
Staff

Mr. Garth Grennan
Principal
Our dedicated and professional staff are experienced in working with behaviorally
challenged students. They include Vermont-licensed teachers, behavior management specialists, art teachers, and special education paraprofessionals.
Curriculum
The teachers and staff at Meadows are part of each student's overall
treatment team. Daily communication between Meadows and the student's
program unit (inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization or day program)
helps to integrate academics with clinical and behavioral treatment, ensuring
the best total care for each individual. Students pursue the core courses in math,
science, history, and English as well as electives in art and music. Extra reading and math help is available within the
school's resource room. Meadows is also able to offer General Education
Diploma (GED) testing in cooperation with the Southeastern Vermont Career
Education Center.
