Starting Now

Starting Now is an outpatient addiction treatment program dedicated to helping people whose lives are adversely affected by alcohol and drug use. Clients at Starting Now live at home and continue with their family and work responsibilities, while participating in a regular schedule of day or evening intensive outpatient or traditional outpatient therapy. The treatment philosophy at Starting Now is based on the 12-step approach of Alcoholics Anonymous, coupled with the skill building approach of cognitive behavioral therapy. At all times, our program is based on honesty, integrity and confidentiality.

People come to Starting Now for a variety of reasons. To determine the most effective plan for each person, an initial assessment of their present situation, history of substance use, the negative consequences of that use, and their withdrawal potential is completed. Drawing from our extensive clinical knowledge and experience, we make an initial diagnosis and a sound but flexible decision about the appropriate level at which to begin therapy. Sometimes, this evaluation is the only service provided. Often, people enter either outpatient or intensive outpatient treatment.

Clients typically attend our intensive outpatient treatment program multiple times a week for approximately five to six weeks. Both day and evening programs are available to fit into work and family schedules. Each day, as participants return to their lives, they have opportunities for “reality checks” that show them, almost immediately, the effectiveness of the program. Case management and a monthly alumni support group is also offered.

Individual outpatient treatment is also available. Commonly utilized for those referred by EAP, DOT or for DWI, most clients attend between 3 and 20 one-to-one sessions.
